On the afternoon of June 18, 2024, a gas leak in the basement of a Carbon Street home in Syracuse, NY ignited, causing an explosion. The house collapsed with two families trapped inside.13 people, including 9 children under the age of 13, were inside. Eleven were hospitalized. Some remain in critical condition.The lasting effects of this tragedy are immense; physically, emotionally, and financially.At the request of United Way of CNY partner agencies Catholic Charities and InterFaith Works, we are accepting financial donations from members of the community who wish to help the twoimpacted families. 100% of donations will be passed on to Catholic Charities and InterFaith Works to cover the extensive current and future needs of these two families.
